D4 S23 App

My app idea came from an appreciation of apps like Letterboxd and Goodreads, which let you track movie and book consumption. I had never seen a comparable app for video games, so it felt like a good opportunity to design my own. I created Playfile, a video game-tracking app. You can track what games you played or want to play, as well as log progression and achievements.

Tracking app prototype for women who wish to understand how their biology and physical habits affect their mental health. My favorite feature was the chart that compares mood to water intake, menstruation, and exercise. It took many attempts, but the chart displayed has been the solution for comparing this much data in one simple diagram. It can also be advanced to include more information.

By the Book is a book tracking app that allows the user to track their reading progress, as well as what books they have read or want to read in the future. The user can also see what others think of different books, while viewing the reading activity of their friends on the app. The app primarily uses sans-serif type to communicate, including decorative initials, while a serif is used for larger pieces of texts, such as descriptions, reviews, and profile bios. While maintaining the neutral color palette of the project, users are alerted to when something acts as a button or link by its green color and underline, as well as other commonly used clues, such as images acting as buttons for specified profiles.

This is an app that tracks recipes making cooking fun and easy. I had to think about how my consumer would experience the app so I wanted to make it as easy to use as possible. I made five main navigation pages, my recipes, search, profile, meal log, and food feed. You can tell what page you are on by the white icons on the nav bar. The consumer is able to save their favorite recipes, share recipes with a community and log the meals they have eaten everyday for every meal. The app also includes a section for diet restrictions so the consumer only sees recipes they would be able to eat. The recipe pages are split between the ingredients and directions so there is not to much to view at once.

I created an app called KnitIt which is a place for any level crocheter or knitter to document and keep track of their progress in a pattern. When working on a long project people often take breaks. When you return to your project is it difficult to remember where you were in the pattern. KnitIt is helpful as you can log where you are in your pattern and include diary entries about the pros and cons of the yarn and your pattern progress.

Ultimate Atlas is a tournament planning app for Ultimate Frisbee teams. Teams can easily find, keep track of and sign up for tournaments more efficiently than ever. Communicating with other teams is also made simple. The second main feature is that teams can keep track of their game scores and valuable information for later team development. I had the idea for this app because the current system of planning these tournaments is disorganized and stressful. The app has a wireframe animation and monochromatic indigo design with yellow highlights.

For our last project we were tasked with creating out own tracking app. As a student athlete I wanted to create a workout app that I would see myself using, as well as other athletes. I made a running app that plans your cardio around different music albums. You are able to pick your favorite music, and the app will plan each song as a different part of your run. It tracks your stats, and you are also able to favorite your best runs/albums.

In this project we were tasked with creating an app used to track something. For my app, I wanted to create something that would help college students track the music scene at their school. The app I made aims to allow the user to track what shows are going on near them. They can also use the app to RSVP for shows, review venues and shows, discover local bands, and more. For the design, I wanted to emulate the darker feel of a typical basement show scene, but with pops of color and star illustrations to add vibrancy.

The purpose of this project was to create a tasked-based app and all the accompanying components it would need. Right after we were assigned this project, my best friend had her bachelorette party where a few of us proceeded to argue over which song was the best track on specific albums. It was really fun hearing how different people would rank the same albums. That night inspired this project - Beat Bracket. I wanted to create an app that tracks which tracks are you and your friends' favorites on any given album. My hope was that it would be both comfortable, like a dark jazz club with the soft glow of a neon sign, but also competitive like the feelings around March Madness. By experimenting with different color palettes and ways to display the brackets, I landed on the colors shown here and a side to side scroll.

There is a tremendous amount of waste in the salon. Much of that comes from hair color. By being more responsible with the use of hair color, salons stand to increase their profits and decrease waste.
Beauty Scan is meant to track inventory. More importantly, it is used to track what employees do with inventory in the sense of how many ounces of color they use during a given amount of time. Usage can be tracked by person, distributor, and brand, then viewed in a list or graph form. This allows an owner or manager to estimate if waste is being created based on a customers total price at check out.
The app features typographical hierarchy, colors and labeling for the users convenience and understanding.
