Cyberbullying is a major issue especially in today's world due to the uprise in technology and social media. This symposium poster is creating a call to action on cyberbullying, and how it affects others. This poster portrays a text message conversation between two individuals, capturing the harsh reality of bullying in a realistic and impactful way.

For my symposium, I chose to focus on the arising issue of younger generations relying on social media and ignoring the importance of human interaction. The title of my poster is "Less Screens, More Interaction". After choosing my title, I organized the type out of social media icons. The letters are made based off of a how often a letter repeats in the saying and most popular social media apps. For example, the "E" repeats the most in the title, so I made them out of the TikTok icon because TikTok is the most popular among younger generations. The title is completely legible in the top portion of the poster and is placed in the color white for emphasis. The rest of the lines of type repeat the title and are organized to simulate a horizontal scrolling motion. This poster is designed for a conference on the topic; it is made to target parents and K-12 teachers.

For this project, the class was divided into groups to develop an overall theme for an upcoming symposium; my group chose to discuss internet safety. I decided to focus my poster on the growing issue of child exploitation and sex trafficking. To convey this, I photographed a chalk drawing of a childlike stick figure with the phrase, “Show you care before someone else does.” I wanted to connect something innocent and nostalgic with the serious issue of keeping children safe online. The contrast was meant to show both the vulnerability of children and the need to protect them in the digital world.

For this project, we had to design a symposium poster on a topic of our choice. I choose to base my conference on recognizing the inequality and discrimination within the design industry and actualizing on structural and realistic ways to bring a more accessible and multicultural reality to the industry.

My symposium poster theme was surrounding gender inequality within soccer. I explored the elements of gender inequality using type and an image of a soccer net to push my ideas! I am a student athlete and a designer, and I love to explore them together!

The parameter for this project was designing a symposium poster trying to use solely typographic elements on a subject matter of our choice. The group decided on the general umbrella of gender-based inequalities, so I concentrated on gender-based inequalities in the health sphere, specifically the lack of research on the female reproductive system disorder, endometriosis. I decided to create a female figure out of the stories of various women with the condition, using solely type. The informational type on the right about the speakers has a simplicity to it to balance out the detail and the visual business of the typographic female silhouette on the left.

For this group project, we explored the effects of "brain rot" content—overstimulating, low-substance media—and its harmful impact on children. My focus was on teaching media literacy to children and their parents, empowering them to critically evaluate the media they consume. The poster reflects the playful creativity of childhood while highlighting the importance of this topic. The title I made from playdough and I used colorful doodles & scribbles throughout the poster to create a more playful feeling.
