Amish Quilt Patterns is a series of 5 small posters and an envelope for packaging. It’s a mapping of both commonly used patterns in Amish communities, and what those patterns symbolize and represent to them. It is also a mapping of the average life of an Amish woman because each quilt represents a pillar of life important to Amish tradition: Religion, marriage, parenthood, home, and balance. Quilting is a significant practice to Amish women because it’s a means of work and livelihood as well as self-expression.

As one of the oldest cities in the U.S., Philadelphia is known for its rich history. While the city continues to grow, so does its infrastructure—but often, these systems cause social, financial, and cultural problems. For this project, I wanted to show these changes in a way that documented both the physical and non-physical impacts they have on Philadelphia.

For this project, we had to visualize complex datasets related to social, cultural, or political themes to uncover hidden insights. I decided to created a comprehensive dream interpretation system consisting of three components: a celestial-themed poster, dream journal, and reference bookmark.

On a college campus, there are few things as popular as reusable water bottles. With social media trends constantly evolving, there is always “the” water bottle being toted around by students. These water bottle-focused data portraits investigate the correlation between academic disciplines and water bottle brands, emphasizing how a student’s learning and values influences their personal purchases and decisions to express themselves. I chose to reference the practice of plastering a water bottle with stickers with my stylistic choices, as well as enabling each individual data portrait to be used as its own sticker.

Inspired by my love for Sally Rooney's tactfully plain prose, I created a series of visualizations of her latest novel, Intermezzo. The visuals serve as a form of quantitative literary analysis of the novel. You can explore the book through mappings of character perspectives, word frequencies, and an artistic display of the sentence lengths of the entire novel. I hope these visuals serve as a conversation starter for discussing Rooney's incredible novel!
