Media Production
Throughout the course of the semester, students enrolled in the Media Production course learned about photography, video production, and audio production. As a result, at the end of the semester, they each created their own podcast episode based on a design topic of their choosing.

After being asked what inspired me during my time at Jefferson, I chose to discuss tactile design for my podcast. I conducted research about what tactile design is, who it benefits, and the different ways it can be used. My podcast has two special guest speakers who discuss their experience with tactile design.
The first impression of a podcast is important. Visuals need to be strong and make someone scrolling on an app stop and want to click on your thumbnail. For my podcast artwork, I took a picture of a cube that has been printed on it and made it look abstract. This forces the viewer to stop scrolling and try to make out the image. Hopefully, making them click on the thumbnail which would bring them to the podcast to learn more.
Podcasts need to be promoted. I created a promotional video for Time for Design about tactile design. The main goal is to grab the attention of the listener and make them want to hear more by listening to the podcast. I used visuals to keep the attention of the prospective listener and gave hints of what to expect when listening to the podcast.

“Time for Design” is a design podcast for college design students by college design students. Hand-lettering means creating letterforms by hand, typically in a way that allows the artist to be creative with the shape of the letterforms and how they connect. My episode of this podcast explores the interaction between hand-writing and hand-lettering in graphic design, as well as the history of hand-lettering and how it is used today.

The Time for Design podcast has a new episode all about mixed media design! Learn all about this topic with interviews with experts, art history, and discussions about projects. The promotional artwork was created combining digital and physical imagery.

For our final project, we were tasked with creating a podcast episode that catered to a specific design topic. In my case, I decided to speak about branding and my guest that I featured is a fashion design student who also has some experience with branding. In my podcast I introduced the topic of branding and then interviewed my guest so I could get their perspective and interpretation of what branding is. Branding is viewed differently in visual communication design and fashion design but there are many similarities and we unpacked them throughout the course of the podcast episode.
