I was assigned the Trade Gothic family designed by Jackson Burke in 1948. The classification is sans serif, 19th century grotesques. Due to it's slim, compressed, and squared off characteristics it was commonly found in newspaper headings especially for trade job positions (where the name was derived from). For my font mannerism folio I wanted to focus on the cleanliness and modern look of Trade Gothic. Furthermore, I explored the differences and similarities among other sans serif families.

With my appointed typeface, The goal was to explore the type. I was given futura to work with. While doing this project, I explored, futura in different contexts. In that of an adobe release poster, the poster in-situ. In that of display text and body copy. I compared futura with other typefaces as well, to explore how different it was compared to them. I also used futura for the whole project, which was also part of the project, which helped understand how typefaces may be utilized.

For this project, we were randomly assigned a type family to work with. I was given Garamond, an old-style serif known for its elegance and legibility. I decided to create a classic, warm-toned portfolio to match the mood and use of the font. When exploring this type family, I wanted to take a closer look at the serifs and the difference between other fonts. This is showcased in my portfolio, along with some of the other formal characteristics of the font.

In our font folio project we had to use our assigned type face to make spiral bound book that contained our type information. I had the type face Scala, the first image is of the cover, the second and third image is a comparison of different Scala fonts.

These pages are from the Font Mannerisms project, our first project of the semester. Each person was assigned a font, mine was Baskerville. Throughout this project, I studied the history and different characteristics of the Baskerville font. I decided that this specific typeface gave off a very sharp, and professional look. So for the majority of my pages in the Font Mannerisms Project, my design aesthetic followed that of business cards and professionalism.

For this project I was randomly assigned the popular typeface Helvetica and was tasked with building out a collection of type studies, letter research and displaying the in depth properties Helvetica offers. When working on this collection I purposefully designed a clean, sleek and simplistic aesthetic as it helps portray the characteristics of Helvetica in a visualistic way. My cover is meant to represent the ubiquitousness of the font and how it can be seen everywhere in many different mediums, sizes, and forms.
