Task: Design a catalogue book and website for a collection exhibition. "Visual Value" features an international currency collection. It contains coins and bills from over 30 different countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas, including nations that no longer exist, such as Yugoslavia and Austria-Hungary. The webpage prototypes include a homepage, essay page, and collection section with a functional dropdown navigation. The project contains all of my own photography and illustration.

The purpose of this project was to design an exhibition book and website based off of a collection. For my project, I chose to use my collection of snow globes. Throughout the book, there is a combination of history spreads and spreads that describe a specific memory that I associate with the given globe, in addition to full bleed spreads to get a closer look at some of the globes. I used hand-drawn type that I created as well as my own photographs.

The collection catalog project made us focus on the importance of layout and the placement of type. We explored all aspects included in a catalog and we were able to put our own info into our designs. In this project we had to create a catalog based on a collection in which I chose to do mine on fancy eggs. Along with the catalog we had to create a website for our catalog to show how we can present the same information on multiple media.

For my collection project I choose to do a soda tab and make what we would call a sculpture out of soda tab. For collection purposes, I had to make 15 different pieces of artifacts in order for the book to work. I also had to pick two different content that will work well with my collection so I decided to choose more than two. I choose Personals, History, COVID-19 and Hobby. Also there is another part to the collection is a web page that we also had to make as a mock up so I decided to choose the MoMA art exhibition for my mock up site. The process never seems to end but throughout the process, I have learned so much.

My goal in this assignment was to create a book, as well as an accompanying website prototype, showcasing any kind of collection. For the collection, I used my dad’s old sports trading card collection that spanned about 30 years from the 70s up until the early 2000s. While curating the estimated 3,000 card collection with my dad, I found it pretty astonishing that he remembers just about everything about so many of these cards that he collected years ago. For example, he was able to tell me information and stories about these cards including where he got it, when he got it, why he got it, etc. (also many stories involving the actual players on the cards). With all of that information, I wanted to use this book to share those personal stories and memories that he has connected to his collection.

My collection consists of makeup looks I did over a total of 18 days. These looks were based on how I felt every day and includes statements from my diary explaining what I felt. I also used color psychology to explain the emotion associated with the colors in each look.

For our collection catalogue and website, our task was to design an exhibition catalogue for a exhibition of artifacts of any choice. I decided to pick footwear as my artifacts. We had to take a closer look at the artifact we picked and come up with 2 different contexts for it. Mine being historical and personal context. We also had to make a website that correlates to our catalogue by using the invision app/ website.

Problem: Displaying an abundance of information about different subtopics in one catalog. Figuring out a way to curate, organize, design one cohesive feel for one whole topic that contains many topics underneath.
Solution: Creating a curated catalog that presents itemized pieces in the whole book, including table of contents, a prelude, full-page spreads, an about the author page, and an exhibition list that shows information in a way that is digestible for the reader.

The catalogue and website are based off of my personal collection of seashells, which spans from the Jersey Shore to the beaches of England and Spain. Both formats exhibit information regarding the structure and form of each kind of seashell displayed, as well as my own personal accounts and connections to them. Using photographic and illustrative elements, as well as typographic treatments and gridlines, the shells, essays, and narratives are arranged and organized throughout numerous pages to create a piece that is informative while maintaining a sense of naturalism.

The second project I was tasked with was to create, curate, and design an exhibition book. My collection was of different types of doors and the people that live behind them. The book was set up with inspiration from minimalist magazines and informative catalogues.
