This is the food consumption rebrand project for Design 5. We had to pick a restaurant with a poorly functioning brand and propose a new brand strategy for it. I chose Ruby's Diner which is a dine-in restaurant with a 40s/50s theme that serves hotdogs, hamburgers, fries, and milkshakes. I created the logo, a take-out bag, coasters, the menu, and business stationery. I focused my designs around the trademarks of the existing brand which are their milkshakes and Ruby's classic red bow.

Assignment: Redesign the branding system for a restaurant/business in the food industry.
Solution: Radman Mills is a restaurant in Croatia with a unique location: tables are outdoors on the Cetina riverbank. The restaurant is located in a park that also features kayaking, whitewater rafting, and hiking.
The rebrand aims to capture the beautiful setting as well as the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the restaurant through brand assets, including my own pastel illustrations, as well as writing in five different languages (Croatian, English, Italian, French, and German) to accommodate tourists. The project includes packaging, coasters, menu and wine menu, and stationery. The menus are also each translated into five different languages.

Committed Pig is a small food chain based in New Jersey, identifying as a burger & pancake house. Through this rebranding process, new typefaces and colors were applied to the brand, and the logo, menu, and packaging were redesigned. A more established menu and brand history were created, and Committed Pig was given more personality through its vibrant, and playful packaging. The assets and components created are meant to express the restaurant’s friendly, spirited atmosphere while emphasizing the commitment to quality food and experiences.

When rebranding Royal River Grill House, I wanted a clean appearance that portrayed royalty as well as comfort. This included a new color palette, logo, brand stationery and packaging, as well as a new and simplified name: Royal River. The typeface for the logo was adjusted in order to connect letters and represent a flowing river, and a crown was designed and used as the counter space. Remember, be loyal to the royal.

This is the Food Consumption project which consisted of redesigning the logo of a restaurant of my choice. The items seen in this submission include stationery, logo, packaging, and menu. I wanted to be able to stay consistent with the idea that the owners want their restaurant to be portrayed as fun inspiring and in relation to the beach, “surf”. Having a dog fish as a main logo was clever for the time when they first opened. However, sometimes a rebrand is important for a company or business so that they are able to stay relevant. The final logo consists of a dog on a surfboard with a fun and scratchy look to pair with the type.

The Food Consumption Project was to take a restaurant and give it a redesign. The items seen in my submission include, a personal size pizza box, a carry out bag, and a cheesesteak wrap. Along with those items includes stationery items such as a business card, letterhead, envelope, and a menu. I wanted to keep the pieces together with a similar look so each corner of each piece shows a checker print. Along with the checker print is quotes that can be seen on the pizza box and bag to draw attention to the items. The final logo is square resemblance of a pizza box. The logo also has a custom type to help fit the shape and keep it contained in a square shape.

This is my Restaurant project (Food Consumption). I am re-doing the logo of Burmese Restaurant called Rangoon and its Located in China town Philadelphia. I am re-doing the logo without changing it too much by adding a different font style based on the Burmese alphabet. So I decided to create myself to represent the circular of the Burmese Alphabet. the 45-degree angle in every letter.

For this project I decided to rebrand a local Delaware restaurant by the name of Johnnies Dog House and Chicken Shack. In my opinion, Johnnies was a poor functioning brand so I took it upon myself to rebrand it. I wanted Johnnies to be a place that feels welcoming to the customers and excites hot dog lovers all around the world. To do this I rebranded the logo of johnnies as well as the menu, packaging, business cards and stationary.

The restaurant that I chose to rebrand is Smiley’s Cafe. Smiley’s Cafe is a small restaurant that is located in Manayunk and serves Lebanese dishes. I chose to visually incorporate a smiley face because of the name of the restaurant. While developing the initial logo, I also developed a set of emoticon icons that carried the same shape and aesthetic as the original. For brand packaging, I decided to focus on the takeout box because of the versatility of what can go inside and a sandwich wrap based on the items on the menu.

For this project, I was to select an existing restaurant, grocery store or other business in the food industry with a poorly functioning brand and propose a new brand strategy for that entity.

McNally's Tavern is one of the oldest family run food establishments in Philadelphia. Sitting atop the highest hill in Philadelphia, McNally's has been open for one hundred years and is home to several of the greatest sandwiches sold in the city. In this restaurant rebrand, I started by creating a new logo for McNally's using custom made type that provided a personality to the McNally's brand that better fits their history and the strong community of patrons that frequently visit the restaurant. Additionally, the brand includes a new color palette, type system, stationary items, menus, and packaging.

I decided to rebrand a local creamery called Colonia Dairy Maid. The shop consisted of outdated characters, overwhelming amounts of information, and yet still remained a nostalgic Jersey favorite. This project allowed me to redesign the shop's branding, organize information, and keep the nostalgic and fun feeling it has always offered.

In Philadelphia, the staple food is, of course, a cheese steak. For that reason I felt that is was only right to give credit where credit is due and rebrand a timeless classic to cater to the aesthetic of the new generation of Philly cheese steak fanatics.
